01/17/2023	Legislative Information Session 2023 Nevada Legislative Information Session The NOA's Bill Draft Request for Lab Choice and Non-Covered Services The NOA's Legislative Committee will be holding an informational session to address our upcoming lab choice and non-covered services bill for the 2023 Nevada Legislative session that convenes in February. This session will be on Tuesday, January 17th, at 7:30 pm via Zoom. The Legislative Committee will present a brief overview of the bill, a list of talking points, and a follow-up email to prepare members with concise benefits of the bill and its impact on their practices and patients. The NOA has a bill sponsor and a general outline of what the legislative process should look like and hopes for movement through both chambers despite known opposition from vision insurance companies. 01/28/2023	In-Person Hybrid CE: Glaucoma Masqueraders GLAUCOMA MASQUERADERS The Northern Nevada Optometric Society invites you to our first CE event of 2023 THIS SATURDAY, January 28, 2023. The event will be a hybrid event - in-person for those in the greater Reno-Sparks-Carson City area and online for the rest of the state. SPEAKER: Daniel Epshtein, OD, FAAO COURSE INFORMATION: Without a gold standard biomarker in glaucoma diagnosis, distinguishing glaucoma patients from glaucoma suspects is often difficult. This clinical question is made even more complicated when patients present with other ocular conditions that may mimic glaucoma. This course will use a case-based approach to help attendees learn to distinguish glaucoma patients from glaucoma masqueraders. The course will focus on auxiliary diagnostic tests such as macular OCT scans, optic nerve OCT scans, visual fields, and pupillary testing to distinguish glaucoma masqueraders from glaucoma. Previously, he held a position in a high-volume multispecialty ophthalmology practice supervising fourth-year optometry students as an adjunct assistant clinical professor of the SUNY College of Optometry. Dr. Epshtein’s research focuses on using the latest ophthalmic imaging technologies to elucidate ocular disease processes and simplify equivocal clinical diagnoses. He developed and lectures in the perioperative care course at the SUNY College of Optometry. Dr. Epshtein writes and lectures on numerous topics, including glaucoma, retinal disease, multimodal imaging, ocular surface disease, and perioperative care. more info...
